The G. H. Mumm champagne company will not be the official supplier for podium champagne this season. The podium winners will now have to open a new brand of champagne. However, Mumm has confirmed that they will remain involved with Formula-E.

After a 15 year partnership, Mumm and Formula One will no longer be doing business together. This is presumably because the company was not willing to offer enough sponsorship funds for the sport that has been considered very greedy in the recent seasons. It has been speculated that Moët et Chandon, another French winery, will be providing the champagne for the podiums in 2016.

The company experienced a lot of publicity from their position in Formula One. They even released limited edition Formula One styled bottles of champagne a couple of years ago. Despite their exit from the sport of Formula One, Mumm will not be leaving motorsport all together. The company was able to confirm that they will not be leaving their position in Formula-E, as the podium champagne supplier and sponsor of the series.

“We are very proud of our past and have enjoyed 15 years as the official champagne of Formula 1, seeing great success in terms of visibility and awareness,” a spokesperson for Mumm told the Racing Clothesline. “In our mission to continually innovate, excite and push the boundaries, we have chosen to explore a new opportunity – Formula E, electric motor racing – as it is truly ground breaking, has a strong fit with our brand values and is a natural evolution in motor racing.”
