
Motorsport fans gathered at the Goodwood Festival of Speed for the ultimate celebration of motorsport. Eight F1 teams were in attendance, with Mercedes, Ferrari, McLaren, Red Bull, Racing Bulls, Alpine, Williams, and Aston Martin all participating. Numerous of the 2026 drivers also got behind the wheels of cars, old and new, on the iconic hillclimb. Even some team management participated, with James Vowles driving a Williams FW18 that helped earn Damon Hill the World Championship in 1996.
The FIA has contacted Ferrari and Red Bull’s regarding their rear wings. During pre-season testing, Ferrari unveiled the unique “Macarena Wing” concept, using it for the first time during a race in Miami. Red Bull also introduced a similar rear wing in Miami. While other teams stuck with a rear wing system similar to the previous Drag Reduction System (DRS), the so-called “Macarena wing” rotates fully to open. The rear wing has been accused of causing two crashes for Max Verstappen in Austria and Britain, which has prompted the FIA to seek more information from the teams, ensuring they are complying with all safety requirements.
Ferrari became the first F1 team to test at the new Madring Circuit in Madrid, performing a filming day at the new home of the Spanish Grand Prix. The session was focused on promotional activities, as allowed under the regulations, with both drivers participating. The team posted some videos to their social media, including the one below:
Pirelli completed a two-day tyre test at Silverstone with Mercedes and Williams. George Russell and Carlos Sainz were on track for the first day of testing on Tuesday, completing a combined total of 174 laps. The running was hindered by a technical issue with the Williams, which completed a little more than half of the distance run by Mercedes. Kimi Antonelli and Alex Albon were in the cars for the second day of testing, completing 199 laps together, bringing the test total to 373. Much of the time was spent focusing on long runs, while Alex Albon focused on performance testing in the morning. The next Pirelli tyre test is scheduled for the week following the Hungarian Grand Prix, in which Audi, Alpine, and Aston Martin will participate.
