Yuki Tsunoda will replace Liam Lawson from the Japanese Grand Prix. After only two races with Red Bull, Lawson has been demoted to Racing Bulls due to poor performance. Lawson qualified P18 in Australia before crashing out in wet conditions and qualified last for the sprint and main race in China, finishing outside of the points on both occasions. The New Zealander had raced only 11 F1 races over two seasons before being promoted to Red Bull. Tsunoda will now have a chance to shine, having initially been passed up for the Red Bull promotion. His first race with the team will also be his home race as well as the home race of the team’s engine supplier, Honda.
