Formula One and Netflix have released a trailer for their documentary series that’s set to launch on March 8 of this year. From the creators of the hit F1 documentary Senna, the multi-part series will follow the lives of the current Formula One drivers both on and off the track.
The series will be split into ten episodes that will follow the action in the 2018 from Melbourne to Abu Dhabi. The makers of Senna – a classic documentary about the life and death of F1 legend Ayrton Senna – and Amy – a film about the life and death of British singer-songwriter Amy Winehouse – have been given exclusive access to Formula One, which has never been done before.

“Netflix was the perfect platform on which to tell the inside story of this incredible sport,” explained Paul Martin from Box to Box Films. “F1 has long been a world of colourful characters and super-sized ego’s, thrills and drama, victory and tragedy but until now that world has been largely hidden and secretive from fans. Formula 1: Drive to Survive takes the viewers right into the heart of this world and shows what it is like to live, work and race within the world’s fastest sport.”

This will be the first documentary to focus on the sport as a whole since 1: Life on the Limit from back in 2013, although it’s not the most recent time that the sport of F1 has hit the big screen, with McLaren and Williams both being in the spotlight of two documentaries both released in 2017.

Netflix has released a trailer of the series.
