The latest reports suggest that Kimi Räikkönen has signed a two-year contract extension with Ferrari. It is believed that the Finn signed the paperwork over the weekend, although it’s not expected to be officially confirmed by the team until the F1 season resumes.
The extension would save Räikkönen’s seat until the end of the 2020 season, paired with Sebastian Vettel for the 2019 season. Vettel is not yet contracted beyond 2019 but is highly expected to renew his contract for at least another season after his current one expires.
The news is expected to be confirmed when Formula One returns from the summer break, as late as the Italian Grand Prix. The move puts Charles Leclerc in line for a Ferrari seat in 2021.
