It’s that time of the week again: time for us to look at the past teams that made an exit from the sport of Formula One, having scored no points. This week, we remember McGuire.

Brian McGuire was an Australian racing driver who had purchased a Williams FW04 chassis in 1976 to race in the Shellsport International Series. That same year, McGuire had expressed interest in entering into the 1976 British Grand Prix, but was never listed on the entry list for the event.

While still racing in the Shellsport International Series in 1977, McGuire decided to skip one of the races to take part in the British Grand Prix. He made modifications to the chassis, calling it the McGuire BM1 chassis. However, the car was the slowest in pre-qualifying and never saw the grid.

McGuire abandoned his Formula One hopes and returned to the Shellsport International Series. Just over a month after making his Formula One attempt, McGuire was killed while practicing for a race at Brands Hatch.
