Formula One will be getting a theme song, as famous Hollywood composer Brian Tyler reveals that he has been commissioned for the task. Tyler has an extensive portfolio ranging from movies to video games.
Tyler is an award-winning composer and conductor in the film and entertainment industry and has been commissioned by the sport of Formula One to develop a theme song for the sport. Tyler posted a photo of himself conducting the London Philharmonic orchestra at Air Studios in London, explaining that he was conducting the new theme.
Tyler’s resume includes extensive work with Marvel for movies including the Avengers: Age of Ultron, Iron Man 3 and Thor. He also conducted the soundtrack for multiple movies in the Fast and the Furious film franchise, as well as the Expendables franchise. Tyler has also worked on video game music for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, Farcry 3 and Assassin’s Creed IV.
In the sports business, Tyler the man behind the National Football League’s ESPN theme song. He also created the musical theme for the 115th US Open Championship.
It is believed that the new theme will be used in broadcasts on the new F1 streaming services that was recently announced. It’s unclear at this time if the music will be featured in other media such as other broadcasts from Sky Sports F1 or other vendors or in the F1 video game franchise. However, that may likely be the case as Liberty Media attempts to revamp the Formula One brand image.
Formula One has never had an official theme tune. Theme tunes such as the iconic ‘The Chain’ by Fleetwood Mac or ‘Just Drive’ by Alistair Griffin were only for specific broadcasters.
