Susie Wolff was in court on Friday attempting to appeal a driving ban that she had received for speeding. The judge used her defense against her, justifying when the ban should remain in place, and dismissing her appeal.

Wolff, a driver who worked for Williams from 2012 to 2015, has previously been charged with two speeding offences when she was caught going 5mph over the limit in a 30mph zone in June of 2015. She was given a six month driving ban in November, but the sentence was suspended until she was able to have her appeal hearing on Friday.

Wolff pleaded with the judge, saying that the ban would have a massive impact on her charity work. She currently running her own charity, Dare to be Different, where she aims to encourage girls to participate in motorsport. She stated that she would be disappointing hundreds of girls involved with the charity.

She also said that she would not be able to take part in some of the charity events and that she wouldn’t be able to adequately do her job in her role promoting Mercedes without her license.

The judge has dismissed the appeal, feeling that it would be valuable life lesson to those to which she is a role model. The ban has not been lifted and she has been ordered to pay a minor fine and court costs.
