Toro Rosso has also hit a small bump in the road ahead of the 2017 season, as the team’s filming day has been cut short by a power unit failure. The STR12 was participating in the team’s filming day at the Misano Circuit in Italy on Wednesday.

The FIA allows 100km of running during the filming day, but the car was packed up before the team was able to hit that mark due to a technical issue with the Renault power unit. Despite the issue, the team was reportedly able to collect the footage required for the filming.

Sources indicate that the issue was related to the Electronic Recovery System (ERS) on the Renault power unit, although details of the issue have not been confirmed by Toro Rosso of Renault. It’s understood that the power unit has been shipped to Renault for further analysis to ensure that the issue does not occur again.

Toro Rosso’s new 2017 STR12 will be revealed for the first time at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya this Sunday ahead of the first pre-season test of 2017. The Red Bull RB13 and the Haas VF17 will also make their first appearance in an online launch on the same day.
