As McLaren-Honda enters the start of the post-Ron Dennis era, the team is looking to make some big changes. One of these changes may be a brand new livery featuring the classic McLaren orange.

The 2016 season featured, debatably, the worst McLaren livery. Those who hoped to see the return of the McLaren-Honda red and white livery a couple of seasons ago when Honda reunited with McLaren were disappointed to see very little livery change. Ron Dennis had said that he wasn’t interested in changing the livery unless sponsor paid the team to do so.

It is believed that the team may run the classic McLaren orange colors that we saw from 1968 to 1971 and during pre-season testing in 1997, 1998 and 2006. The rumors have been sparked by the Tweet by McLaren announcing the February 24 car launch, as it featured orange instead of the red that we have saw in the past.

It’s unlikely that the entire McLaren livery will be orange, due to the similarities to the yellow Renault livery. The livery will likely feature a black and orange combination, although some fear that the livery could be the same as 2016, but the red swapped for orange.

McLaren’s livery and 2017 challenger will be revealed on February 24.
