Jolyon Palmer will be starting from the rear of the grid for the Mexican Grand Prix after failing to take part in the qualifying session on Saturday. The Brit was forced to sit out qualifying due to damage found on his Renault car.

The team discovered a crack in the chassis of Palmer’s Renault after the third free practice session on Saturday morning. Due to safety regulations, the damaged chassis could not be used in the session, as it was a serious safety risk that could result in potential driver injuries.

The team personnel from both sides of the Renault garage worked hard to build a new chassis before the afternoon’s session, which would decide the starting positions for the Mexican Grand Prix on Sunday. The team was unable to repair the car in time, meaning that they were not allowed to take part in qualifying.

Palmer will start from the rear of the grid in the race tomorrow. The team is expected to have completed any necessary repairs before the green flag waves in Mexico.
