The family of Michael Schumacher is likely to be awarded damages for false claims that were published in December of last year. The claims were providing incorrect information about the seven-time world champion’s medical condition. Schumacher suffered a skiing accident while on vacation with his family in December of 2013, where he suffered severe brain injuries.

Bunte, a German celebrity magazine, will likely be forced to pay damages to the family of Michael Schumacher for claims made by the publication in December 2015. The claims reported that Schumacher had taken some steps with therapists and was also able to raise his arm.

The former driver’s manager, Sabine Kehm, responded to the claims, calling them false and irresponsible. The family filed a court case against the publication, saying that the information about Schumacher’s health was a violation of privacy laws, in addition to the story having been false.

The publication insists that the information had been obtained by a source which had been reliable in the past. Nevertheless, early indications show that Bunte will be required to pay between €40,000 and €100,000 in damages. The trial is underway in Hamburg, although the final verdict will most likely not be until some time next month.
