After taking a break from famous motorsport faces in the simulator, the Red Bull Racing Sim Challenge puts another popular Formula One figure in the team simulator: Eddie Jordan. Well known among the Formula One paddock, Jordan will be hoping to beat the target time, but can he do it or will he get sick inside of the cockpit?
Famous members around the Formula One paddock will take the wheel of the Red Bull Formula One simulator for The Red Bull Racing Sim Challenge series. Former Red Bull driver, David Coulthard, started the challenge by setting a benchmark lap time of 1:17.960 at Red Bull’s virtual recreation of the Red Bull Ring in Austria. Participants in the challenge will attempt to beat Coulthard’s lap time. However, beating the lap time will not be easy, given that Coulthard has competed in 247 Grand Prix over the course of his 14 year Formula One career.
Sixty-eight year old Irish businessman, presenter, entrepreneur, musician and former team boss, Eddie Jordan, eagerly accepted his invitation to racing in the Red Bull Racing simulator and was confident in his abilities to beat David Coulthard. Jordan had a small motor racing career prior to entering team management, having raced in many Formulas. Despite being a little short on funds, he founded a Formula 3000 team which ran for seven seasons and won the 1989 Championship title. In 1991, he created Jordan Grand Prix in Formula One. After 15 seasons, he sold the team Midland Group. After that, the team underwent multiple ownership changes, eventually becoming Force India. He now has a successful media career, appearing on BBC, Channel 4 and in F1 Racing magazine. He also currently works has a presenter on BBC’s Top Gear.
How close will Eddie Jordan be able to get to David Coulthard’s virtual lap time around the Red Bull Ring? Can he top the leaderboard in the fourth Red Bull Racing Sim Challenge?
