Adrian Newey proved on the Red Bull Formula One simulator that being an engineering master doesn’t mean that you can keep pace with the professionals in a Formula One car. It’s Christian Horner’s turn to compete in the Red Bull Racing Sim Challenge. Can he use his previous racing experience to beat the benchmark time?
Famous members around the Formula One paddock will take the wheel of the Red Bull Formula One simulator for The Red Bull Racing Sim Challenge series. Former Red Bull driver, David Coulthard, started the challenge by setting a benchmark lap time of 1:17.960 at Red Bull’s virtual recreation of the Red Bull Ring in Austria. Participants in the challenge will attempt to beat Coulthard’s lap time. However, beating the lap time will not be easy, given that Coulthard has competed in 247 Grand Prix over the course of his 14 year Formula One career.
It’s Christian Horner’s turn in the simulator for the second round of the Red Bull Racing Sim Challenge. The 42 year old Brit currently holds the position of Team Principal, and has held that position since 2005. Horner began his motorsport career inside of a car, after winning the Formula Renault scholarship in 1991. He quickly advanced to Formula 3000, where he scored a point in 1997. He retired from racing at the age of 25 to enter team management.
Can Christian Horner recapture his racing skills and be the first driver to beat David Coulthard’s lap time?
