Sebastian Vettel had a minor off in his Ferrari near the end of the second session on Friday, spinning his car into the gravel at turn two. Vettel was able to confirm the cause of his spin which brought out the yellow flags near the end of the session.
Vettel has confirmed that a brake distribution issue caused him to lose control of his car in turn two, bringing out the yellow flags near the end of free practice two. The car came to rest in the gravel at turn two. His Ferrari escaped any serious damage and the minor off didn’t impact his session very much, only causing him to lose a few minutes.
Sebastian Vettel explained his Friday sessions:
“It was a decent day. It is not entirely clear where we stand, as we didn’t have a lot of running due to the weather, in particular in the afternoon, but in general the car feels good. When I span at the end of the second session, I had an issue with brake distribution. It caught me by surprise, but it didn’t matter too much, as I only lost a couple of minutes, and in the end it didn’t make a lot of a difference.”
Vettel wasn’t the only driver to take a spin, as both Mercedes drivers ended up spinning at some point during Friday’s running. Lewis Hamilton’s spin in turn three almost caused a big collision between himself and the Haas of Romain Grosjean. Luckily the Frenchman was able to take evasive action, resulting in his own spin, but avoiding damage to the car.
Along with a packed schedule of sessions on Saturday, including the final free practice session and qualifying, Vettel will be watching his home football team challenge the home team of Ferrari in the UEFA Eurocup quarter-final. “For sure I will watch the soccer match with the Team. Italy is playing stronger than expected, Germany is quite strong as well, so it should be a good match.”
