Sauber has announced that they will not be taking part in the test that will be held after the Spanish Grand Prix at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. The announcement came on Tuesday over social media.
Many of the teams on the grid will be using the test to collect some data about the various updates that are planned. However, the Swiss team is not expecting any updates, which was one of the two reasons that they have decided to withdraw from the test.
The team has also said that they do not have a driver for the test. Felipe Nasr and Marcus Ericsson are the only two drivers with a contract to the team and they don’t not have a test or reserve driver. Given all of the financial issues surrounding the team in recent weeks, it is likely that the team would be unable to afford to pay a driver for the test.
The rest of the teams will be in the test at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya on May 17 and 18.
