It was announced earlier in the week that Lewis Hamilton would arrive to the Autódromo José Carlos Pace late, after being told not to fly by doctors. Hamilton has released details about the reason that he was advised not to fly.

Although sporting stars spend a large amount of their time in the public eye, they still have a private life. Lewis Hamilton has been known for his constant activity on social media, providing fans with every detail of his personal life. Although it isn’t really any of our business, Hamilton took to Instagram to share details about a road accident in which he was involved.

“Dear TeamLH, just wanted to let you know why things have been quiet on social media the past few days,” he wrote in an Instagram post on Wednesday. “I’ve not been well with a fever but I also had a road accident in Monaco on Monday night.

“Whilst ultimately, it is nobody’s business, there are people knowing my position that will try to take advantage of the situation and make a quick buck. NO problem. Nobody was hurt, which is the most important thing. But the car was obviously damaged and I made very light contact with a stationary vehicle.

“Talking with the team and my doctor, we decided together that it was best for me to rest at home and leave a day later. But i am feeling better and am currently boarding the plane to Brazil.”

A spokesperson for the three-time World Drivers’ Champion told the press that although Hamilton would be arriving late, he would still be taking part in the race on Sunday. Since Hamilton is currently en route to Autódromo José Carlos Pace in Brazil, he will not miss any sessions behind the wheel of the car. However, he has missed all press conferences that were scheduled for him on Wednesday.

There are no specific details about the accident at the current moment. It is still unknown who was at fault or how the accident occurred. Many fans have speculated that Hamilton was at fault, but that has not yet been confirmed. Nevertheless, Hamilton turned his misfortune into a live lesson for all of his fans and followers: “I am informing you because I feel we all must take responsibility for our actions. Mistakes happen to us all but what’s important is that we learn from them and grow.”
