Those heading to the Circuit of The Americas for the 2015 United States Grand Prix may want to pack an umbrella, rain coat and boots. Several inches of rain are expected to hit the track throughout the weekend.

According to the latest weather forecast from Weather.com, fans should expect to see thunderstorms Thursday through Saturday, with morning showers on race day. The forecast shows that the rain should decrease when it comes time for the race to start. This weekend is shaping up to be the wettest weekend of the season.

The latest weather forecasts also show that the temperatures will be well below the average, reaching only 24°C during the race. The National Weather Service warns of potential flooding and high downpours at various points during the weekend for the Austin and San Antonio areas.

These low temperatures combined with a wet track surface will mean that teams will be struggling to find as much grip as possible. This will add an extra challenge for both the driver behind the wheel and the engineer that work hard to setup the car for peak performance.

The rain could also put a kink in the other off-track festivities that the circuit and city have worked hard to arrange, including the Elton John post-race concert and the Fan Fest. Regardless of the weather, the fans of Formula One are dedicated to their sport. If the rain comes as forecasted, the Circuit of The Americas may lose some fans, but the majority of them will most like come out to see a spectacular weekend of motorsport and entertainment.
