The Hungarian Grand Prix was a really unpredictable race weekend with a couple of firsts: Sebastian Vettel’s first win in Hungary and Daniil Kvyat’s first career podium. Force India’s front wing proved to have a design issue, as it broke on the main straight causing Nico Hülkenberg to suffer the only crash of the race. Force India had some more issues earlier in the weekend when Sergio Pérez crashed in the first free practice. They also didn’t participate in free practice two, to allow then time to investigate Pérez’s incident.
It was the first race of 2015 that we haven’t saw a Mercedes car on the podium. The Ferraris took the lead at the start and Lewis Hamilton went wide shortly after. Things were looking better for Mercedes when there was a safety car for Hülkenberg’s accident. The both of the Ferrari and Mercedes cars were right behind eachother at the restart, Hamilton collided with Daniel Ricciardo and was forced to pit for repairs and later was penalized. Nico Rosberg would also have some troubles, cutting off Ricciardo and getting a rear puncture. Overall, Mercedes did put on a great show, giving us many of interesting overtakes to fill the broadcast.
On a surprising note, Red Bull made some great progress with the car. They performed well in most of the sessions this weekend. It was a shock to see both of the drivers on the podium, but surely great news for the team.
