This weekend of racing in Austria was filled with ups and downs. There was never really one particular driver who dominated every session of the weekend, as we have saw in the previous rounds of the championship. Ferrari closed the pace a lot on Mercedes and the two teams battled for the lead on the session time charts in all of the sessions. Unfortunately, Kimi Räikkönen’s performance spiraled to disaster near the end of the weekend. McLaren was also one of the team’s that fell victim to the spiral of performance death. Despite fitting a new nose to one of the car’s, they were unable to put any real mileage on it, nor were they able to collect any usable data.

There were some unusual faces at the top of the charts in Austria. Force India seems to have had a performance spike, much like we saw last year in Bahrain. Unfortunately, this most likely won’t carry over into the next round of the championship in Britain. Despite the rare faces near the top of the charts this weekend, Mercedes showed just how dominant they still are by scoring yet another 1-2 finish. This time, Nico Rosberg would lead across the line, putting him only ten points behind the championship leader, Lewis Hamilton.
