This weekend, the Weekend Summary graph looks a little different. The Mercedes’ line took a bit of an odd shape and was intertwined with the Ferrari’s. Lewis Hamilton was consistent as usual, leading every session following the third free practice session. Ferrari had a chance to show just how close to the Mercedes they are, swapping places throughout the weekend.
The race itself was not as thrilling as the one that we saw last season, but by no means a snooze fest. The highlight of the race was probably the battle between the two Felipes – Nasr and Massa that is – which resulted in some close racing. The race ended with the typical top five drivers, but in a bit of mixed up order. Hamilton won, with Kimi Räikkönen not far behind. Räikkönen passed Nico Rosberg in the closing laps, after the Mercedes driver ran wide in the first corner. It was a bit confusing that the broadcasters and the Mercedes team kept saying that Räikkönen was a threat, as there was no way that the Ferrari driver was going to have enough laps to close the gap. People also forgot to factor in the time that would be lost be the turbulent air behind Rosberg and the time lost because of the tyre degradation.
