This 2015 season has already saw many new and redesigned liveries, but none of the curent liveries are as revamped than the Sauber F1 Team’s new C34 livery. For the first time since the team’s entry into the sport, Sauber will be debuting a blue livery. After losing their NEC sponsorship at the end of the 2014 season, the team saught out to find a new principle partner. They were able to find Banco do Brazil, a corporation partially run by the Brazilian government. As a result of this new found partnership, the Sauber C34 is sporting a glamorous blue and yellow livery.
In the days leading up to the team’s reveal date, rumours made their way to social media, claiming that the new Sauber livery would be blue instead of their traditional grey scheme. The team put an amazing amount of effort to neither confirm or deny these alligations and, in turn, keeping the fans of both the team and the sport itself in constant suspense. It did, however, become evident that the car be blue. Just days before the official reveal, the team posted a video on their YouTube account. The video showed the view from a driver’s chest and was created to tease awaiting fans by giving a sample of the new engine’s sound. In the video, it was clear to see that the rim of the cockpit was blue, therefore meaning that the livery was more than likely blue.
All of the 2015 cars have been revealed, with the exception of Red Bull. We can assume that the Red Bull car livery will remain the same. We saw a few big livery updates from Force India and McLaren, but neither were as big as Sauber’s change. If there was an award for the most changed livery of the season, Sauber would be the sure winner. In fact, none of the other livery changes were as large as they were advertised to be. Force India simply changed to a design that was extremely similar to the new McLaren livery, but using orange instead of the McLaren red. McLaren was rumored to be changing back to the white and red pattern that they used back in the previous McLaren-Honda era, but this new design turned out to be nothing more than just the regular chrome, that we saw in the 2014 season, with a little more red.
It is of course important to remember that a fantastic looking livery doesn’t affect the team’s finishing position. So will Sauber be able to score points in the 2015 season? They should surely have what it takes to do so. The team should have more money to spend on research and development because of their new patnership with the large financial corportation, Banco do Brazil. The Sauber technology should be improved because of the team’s new partnership with one of the largest IT businesses in the world, Hewlett-Packard. This new HP partnership should help the team most with their aerodynamic research.
Best of luck to the Sauber F1 Team and all of the other teams in the 2015 season. Can’t wait to see how things pan out this season and to see who will be on top of the 2015 World Drivers’ and Constructors’ Championships.
