Finally, Codemasters has announced the release of F1 2014 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC platforms on the 21st of October this year. The game features the cars of 2014 and of course the tracks of 2014 which haven’t changed much since the 2013 game. The much awaited gameplay trailer has also been released and can be viewed on YouTube or on the bottom of this page.

I’ve watched the trailer and looked at some screenshots of the game and I have to say that it looks like an amazing game. The graphics are phenomenal and those 2014 cars look like they will be so much fun to drive. The tracks look extremely accurate and look like they will really provide players with the full Formula One experience. Of course you cannot tell how realistic the cars handle from screenshots, but I am sure that Codemasters has taken every possible step to ensure that the game is as realistic and fun as it can be.

Despite disappointment from fans, the game that is being released this year will not support the next generation consoles such as the Xbox One and PlayStation 4. However, the development team has assured us that they are working on another F1 2014 to be released in 2015 for the next generation consoles.

I think that Codemasters has left themselves with a big challenge because the 2014 will surely not sell as many as the 2013 game because the 2013 game had classic mode. Not having classic mode in the 2014 version of the game will be like a downgrade for anyone that owns F1 2013. But it could also be a money maker if the company decides to add classic mode in a DLC or maybe in the 2015 release of the game for the next generation consoles.

I only have F1 2010 for PC because that is all that my out-dated, Windows XP computer can run, so I will not be purchasing F1 2014… unless I get a newer computer (hint to anyone that feels like giving away a gaming computer). I am sad about this and look forward to seeing gameplay videos upon the game’s release.
