I am excited to see the German Grand Prix at the Hockenheimring once again this year. The crowd should be extra large and happy after Germany’s World Cup win in the World Cup this year. As part of this celebration, we will get to see Nico Rosberg’s World Cup helmet design. Unfortunately his original design was banned by FIFA because it contained the FIFA brand, but the secondary design looks just as great.

This being Germany, Mercedes will surely being trying to earn a good finish at their home Grand Prix. Rosberg was born in Germany and will be looking to impress his home fans like Lewis Hamilton did in Britain two weeks ago. Rosberg of course took the pole, but to many spectators’ surprise Hamilton will be starting from twentieth in the pitlane after crashing in the first qualifying session and then being penalized for a gearbox change. Fans were looking forward to a good Rosberg and Hamilton battle because the pair were very evenly matched in the practice sessions, but now we may not be able to witness this great battle. Rosberg has a great car and should be able to maintain the lead throughout the race’s entirety. Hamilton should be able to force his way through the pack to get the second step on the podium, however Rosberg will have opened too much of a gap for Hamilton to catch and overtake.

I will also be looking for Daniel Ricciardo and Valtteri Bottas to have a great performance after there excellent finishes in the previous round. I will also be looking for the 2012 German Grand Prix winner Fernando Alonso to finish in the top 5.

With a prediction of rain for the race day, we may see a wet session and some shuffling of the field. However we will need to see how things pan out.

My Top 5 Prediction

1 Nico Rosberg
2 Lewis Hamilton
3 Daniel Ricciardo
4 Valtteri Bottas
5 Fernando Alonso
